Showcase of Work
Welcome to my e-Portfolio! My name is Annamaria Szvoboda. I am a translation and localization specialist and student, and the owner of Szvoboda Translations Inc. On this page, I would like to show you some of my more interesting and challenging translation and localization projects from working with CAT tools all the way to color font creation using Adobe Illustrator and others.
Please feel free to leave a comment or contact me if you have any questions. I hope you will enjoy the tour!
A simulation of a 4-languages SDL Trados package delivery
I grouped together with 3 other translators to simulate a Trados delivery project from beginning to end to learn about Trados's challenges and setbacks in more depth. The project included creating a SOW/work proposal based on CAT tool analysis, pseudo-translation, establishing a Style Guide, a glossary, and TMs, delivering the final language packages, and recording a video on lessons learned.
Playing around with RegEx
Regular Expression is not a programming language but more pattern identification. Its main purpose is quality check in translated or other texts and documents.
Read my blog post and see two examples of how RegEx can help your Hungarian translation projects.
Localizing a Color Font Brochure into Hungarian
Read my blog post and watch my short video about the inspiration, challenges, and of the creation of color fonts in Adobe Illustrator with Fontself Maker.
MT from a Perspective of a Translator
The first machine translation experiment started in 1954 by IBM. In 1966 machine translation was declared as "expensive, inaccurate, and unpromising".
More than 50 years later the question is not whether we use MT and AI or not but how to use it.
